The Champion Sabina arrived back in Bangladesh on Thursday evening after completing an unbeaten run to win the inaugural women’s futsal tournament in Bangkok. From the airport, the squad was paraded through the city on an open-top bus before being welcomed at Hatirjheel Amphitheater with a spectacular, hour-long ceremony filled with lights and cheers.

Despite the grand celebration, no financial reward or special incentive was announced by the federation for the historic achievement.

Praise for Sabina, But Questions Remain

BFF President Tabith Awal hailed captain Sabina Khatun’s legacy, calling her a trailblazer for Bangladeshi football.

“𝑺𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒏𝒂 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒔. 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒉 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔,” 𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅.

However, concerns persist as Sabina remains absent from the national team setup, reportedly due to ongoing differences with head coach Peter Butler — a situation many in the football community believe needs urgent resolution.

Sabina, addressing the crowd, dedicated the triumph to the supporters.

“𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒉𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚. 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆,” 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈.

Iranian coach Saeed Khodarahmi praised the rapid rise of women’s futsal, while Futsal Committee Chairman Imranur Rahman applauded the squad’s achievement, noting how quickly the “Tiger Girls” turned a new project into a championship-winning journey.
