Bangladesh women’s football team will play the second and final match of the series against the United Arab Emirates today (Sunday). The match will start at 10 pm Bangladesh time at the United Arab Emirates Football Ground in Dubai. Bangladesh lost the first match of the two-match series by 1-3 goals.

In football, a competitive match means a win-lose calculation. So after becoming the SAFF champion, the women’s team is expected to win the match. In a video message given to BFFF during practice last night, British coach Peter Butler said, ‘Those who are winning and winning do not understand football.’ However, he explained his comments by saying, ‘Now the development phase is underway. These 23 footballers are preparing for the future. For the SAFF-AFC tournament ahead. I certainly did not tell them that they do not need to win. Now is the time for them to learn and correct their mistakes. I think they are on the right track and they are the future of Bangladesh women’s football.’

All 16 players from the SAFF champion team are missing from the tour of the United Arab Emirates in October. After the brand new team lost the first match 3-1, the coach said about the expectations for the second match, “I told them to correct their mistakes and play good football. They played beautiful football in the last match.” Butler said about the short preparation for the first match, “We arrived here the day before the match. We only had three weeks of preparation in the country.”

Afida Khandaker is the new captain of the Bangladesh women’s football team. She wants to play more planned football in the second match, “Their two wings are very strong. In the last match, there was an attack from both wings. We will resist both wings in this match. The coach has given that instruction.” According to the coach’s comments, Afida also expressed more determination to correct mistakes in this match.
