Senegal returned home to a hero’s welcome after winning a dramatic Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) final against Morocco. Thousands of jubilant fans lined the streets of Dakar on Tuesday to celebrate the national team’s achievement. The players enjoyed a victory parade on an open-top bus before heading to the presidential residence for a formal recognition ceremony.

Presidential Ceremony and Awards

At the presidential palace, President Basirou Dioumaye Faye honored the team for their historic success. Each player, including star forward Sadio Mane, received a bonus of 75 million CFA francs (approx. €115,000) and a 1,500-square-meter plot of land in an upscale Dakar suburb.

Senegal secured the trophy with a 1-0 win over host nation Morocco in Rabat last Sunday. The match was tightly contested and featured controversy, but Senegal’s lone goal in extra time ensured their triumph.
