Rohit-Kohli

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had kept 30 cricketers on central contracts last year. The BCCI is likely to release a new list of central contracts after the ongoing Champions Trophy.

Cricketers like Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma may see their grades downgraded in the new list. Their salaries are going to be reduced due to their retirement from T20Is. This is what Indian media reports have said.

Cricketers like Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan did not get a place in the latest contract. Iyer may get a place in the new contract. His recent form is bringing him back to the contract.

There are four grades in the BCCI’s central contract. Cricketers in Grade A Plus get the most money. This is followed by Grade A, B and C. In the latest contract, four people were in Grade A Plus. Kohli, Rohit were accompanied by Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah.

Usually, cricketers who play all three formats of cricket regularly are paid the highest. That is why these four cricketers were kept in Grade A Plus. But Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja retired from T20 cricket last year. Due to which their grades may change.

The grade of which cricketer will be placed will be decided after the Champions Trophy. The board officials will decide the grade of some cricketers based on their performance in the Champions Trophy.

According to the latest contract, there were 6 cricketers in Grade A. There were 5 in Grade B and 15 in Grade C. In addition, five pacers were signed separately. They are Akash Deep, Yash Dayal, Umran Malik, Vijaykumar Basak and V Kaverappa.
