Ahead of the much-anticipated Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, Purani Dilli 6 have suffered a major setback as their marquee player, Rishabh Pant, has been ruled out due to a fractured metatarsal in his right foot. The injury occurred during the 4th Test vs England at Old Trafford, where Pant courageously batted through pain to notch a gritty half-century on Day 2. Pant, who was retained for INR 21 lakh, was expected to take on a much more prominent role in DPL 2025. Despite playing only one match in DPL 2024 and scoring 35 off 32 balls, the team had placed immense faith in the star keeper-batter, particularly with India having no international commitments during August.

Vansh Bedi Takes Charge as Captain

With Pant out, Vansh Bedi has been announced as the new captain for the season. Bedi, who has been part of the squad’s leadership group, now faces the task of guiding a young and dynamic side that reached the semi-finals last season.

Along with the captaincy change, Purani Dilli 6 also revealed PUMA as their official jersey sponsor and Radio Mirchi as the official radio partner for Season 2.

The team’s campaign begins on August 5, facing Outer Delhi Warriors at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. They are grouped with teams like West Delhi Lions, New Delhi Tigers, and South Delhi Superstarz. The eight teams in the league are split into two groups, with the top four entering the playoffs, culminating in the final on August 31 (reserve day: September 1).
