Royal Challengers Bangalore had to face defeat by 42 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 65th match of IPL 2025. While chasing the target of 232 runs, at one point their score was 173 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 15.3 overs, it seemed that RCB would win easily from here but it did not happen. Bangalore needed 59 runs in 27 balls to win from here, but the team was restricted to just 16 runs.

Seeing this terrible collapse of RCB, the new captain Jitesh Sharma himself looked quite surprised. When he was asked about this, he said that he did not have an answer to this. However, he called the defeat against Hyderabad a good one and said that it was a wake-up call for the team.

Jitesh Sharma gave a surprising statement after losing the match to SRH

Jitesh Sharma said after the match,

“𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 20-30 𝒓𝒖𝒏𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆, 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓 (𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝑹𝑪𝑩 𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏). 𝑾𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉.”

He further said,

“𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒖𝒑𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑰 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒕, 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒛𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒋𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑻𝒊𝒎 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅. 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍. 𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒇𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒕𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅, 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔.”

After this defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad, RCB is out of the top-2 of the IPL 2025 points table. Now their last league match is against Lucknow Super Giants. If RCB has to regain their place in the top-2, then they will have to defeat LSG at all costs, along with this they will also have to depend on the results of the matches of Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings.
