27 Killed in Kashmir’s Deadliest Attack Since Pulwama
In a heart-wrenching incident, 27 people were killed and around 20 others injured in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025. This deadly assault, the most devastating in the region since the Pulwama terrorist attack of 2019, targeted tourists who had come to enjoy the scenic beauty of Kashmir.
The victims included people from various Indian states—Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Gujarat, Haryana, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh—as well as two foreign nationals from Nepal and the United Arab Emirates. The attack occurred around 3 PM and has left the nation in shock.
Cricketers Respond With Emotional Messages
In the wake of the Jammu and Kashmir attack, several Indian cricketers reacted on social media, offering condolences and expressing their grief. Leading the tributes was Virat Kohli, who shared an Instagram story that read:
“Deeply saddened by the attack on innocent people in Pahalgam. Condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for justice and peace.”
Gautam Gambhir, known for his strong views on national security, tweeted:
“Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible will pay. India will respond.”
Yuvraj Singh also voiced his sorrow:
“Saddened by the attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Praying for their families. Let us all stand together with hope and humanity.”
Other cricketers like KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Parthiv Patel also posted tributes, echoing the nation’s pain.
PSL vs IPL: A Coincidental Overlap
Interestingly, the attack came at a time when the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is clashing with the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time in a decade. With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled earlier in the year, the PCB moved PSL to April-May, creating a rare PSL-IPL overlap. This scheduling change also avoided clashes with other T20 leagues like SA20, ILT20, and BBL.
Public Support and Global Solidarity
The incident has drawn widespread international condemnation. People are turning to charity for attack victims, seeking ways to donate to Kashmir victims, and organizing memorial events to honor the deceased. Campaigns to support families affected and promote peace initiatives are gaining traction on platforms like Twitter and Instagram, where hashtags related to #PahalgamAttack are trending.
Online, users are searching for updates from trusted sources like News18, Indian Express, and Hindustan Times to stay informed. Many are also signing petitions calling for justice and stronger counter-terrorism efforts.
India mourns the Pahalgam tragedy, but the nation remains united in its resolve to seek justice. The emotional cricket community, fans, and citizens have come together to condemn this heinous act and support the victims through awareness campaigns, donations, and solidarity rallies.
