The England team defeated West Indies by 238 runs in the first ODI and took a 1-0 lead in the series. 21-year-old Jacob Bethell played the biggest role in England’s victory, scoring a brilliant innings of 82 runs with the help of 8 fours and 5 sixes in 53 balls, and took one wicket and winning the Player of the Match title.
After the match-winning performance, Jacob Bethell gave all the credit to his RCB mate and veteran player Virat Kohli. The English all-rounder said that he has improved a lot as a player after spending about two months in India during the IPL. He also said that Virat Kohli has given him a lot of information about batting.

Speaking about his performance in the first ODI against West Indies at the post-match presentation, Jacob Bethell said,

Status of England and West Indies first ODI match-
The first ODI match between England and the West Indies was played at Edgbaston. Batting first, the host team scored 400 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. In response, while chasing the target, the West Indies team was all out for 162 runs in 26.2 overs, and England won by 238 runs.
