Chelsea have signed Sporting midfielders Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo for a total of £62.4m, according to the Portuguese club.

Quenda, a 17-year-old winger, will cost up to £44m but will remain at Sporting until the end of the 2025-26 season. He has recently broken into the first team and made his Champions League debut in September.

Essugo, a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, will officially join Chelsea this summer after completing his loan at Las Palmas. Sporting confirmed his transfer fee as £18.4m. While he has performed well in Spain, he has also received two red cards in his last four matches.

Quenda won’t arrive at Stamford Bridge for a while, but Essugo could link up with Enzo Maresca’s squad for the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup in the United States this summer.

Chelsea continue to invest in young talent, having already secured moves for 17-year-olds Estevao Willian from Brazil and Kendry Paez from Ecuador, who will also join the club this summer.
