Bangladesh Squad

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially unveiled a 25-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which is scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The announcement was made on Monday, August 4, by the country’s top cricket authority.

As part of the build-up to the tournament, all selected players have been asked to report to the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on August 6 for a fitness camp. Skill training sessions will follow from August 15 at the same venue. The training camp is then set to move to Sylhet starting August 20.

T20I Series vs Netherlands Planned as Preparation

In preparation for the Asia Cup, Bangladesh is also expected to host a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands, likely to be held between August 26 and September 4 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The official schedule has not been confirmed, but this would mark the Netherlands’ first-ever bilateral T20I series on Bangladeshi soil.

Meanwhile, an originally planned multi-format home series against India, which included three ODIs and three T20Is, has been postponed indefinitely due to escalating political tensions between the two nations. As things stand, a potential meeting between the two teams at the Asia Cup will depend on how far they advance in the tournament.

“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒔𝒊𝒂 𝑪𝒖𝒑 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒌𝒆𝒚 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎,” 𝒂 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝑩𝑪𝑩 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅.

Asia Cup Campaign Begins vs Hong Kong

Bangladesh will open their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against Hong Kong on September 11. They have been drawn into a competitive group featuring Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

Additionally, five players from the squad—Nurul Hasan, Mahidul Islam, Saif Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Naim Sheikh—will travel to Australia on August 9 to take part in a T20 tournament. They will also represent Bangladesh A in a four-day game against South Australia. This participation forms part of Bangladesh’s long-term plan to build squad depth across formats, following their debut in the same competition in 2024.
