Bangladesh women’s futsal team delivered a commanding performance in their third match of the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship in Bangkok on Monday, cruising to a 3-0 win over Nepal. The victory followed a draw against Bhutan and further strengthened their push for the tournament title.

Captain Sabina Khatun once again led from the front, opening the scoring in the first half. With that strike, she took her tally to four goals in three matches, having netted twice in the opener and added one goal in each of the next two games. Krishna Rani Sarkar doubled the lead with a stunning long-range effort after controlling the ball and firing past the Nepal goalkeeper.

Bangladesh Second-Half Pressure Seals the Win

Bangladesh continued to dominate after the break, forcing Nepal’s goalkeeper into repeated saves. The third goal came when Lipi Akhtar smashed home a powerful strike from outside the box, set up by Sumaiya’s free-kick. Goalkeeper Jhili ensured a clean sheet with several sharp stops as Nepal attempted a late response.

With this result, Bangladesh now sit on seven points from three matches—after beating India, drawing with Bhutan, and defeating Nepal—placing them firmly in contention for the championship.

Seven teams are competing in the tournament, and the side with the most points after six matches will be crowned champions. Bangladesh’s men’s futsal team currently has four points from three games and will face Sri Lanka next, while Sabina’s side is also set to meet Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
