Real Madrid has suffered a significant setback after losing Kylian Mbappé at a crucial stage of the season. The French superstar, currently La Liga’s top scorer, has been ruled out for at least three weeks due to a knee injury, leaving the Spanish giants without their most lethal attacking weapon.

Mbappé’s absence comes at a time when he was in outstanding form. The 25-year-old forward has been diagnosed with a sprain in his left knee, forcing him to miss upcoming fixtures as Real Madrid waits anxiously for his recovery.

Xabi Alonso Unsure About Mbappé’s Return Timeline

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso admitted that the club is doing everything possible to speed up Mbappé’s recovery, but there is no clear timeline for his return. Speaking ahead of Sunday’s La Liga clash against Real Betis, Alonso revealed that the French star will miss the match and remains doubtful for the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

He added:

Mbappé’s Impact and Record-Breaking Form

Despite battling fitness issues in recent weeks, Mbappé has been sensational this season. He has scored 29 goals in all competitions, including 18 goals in 18 La Liga appearances, making him the league’s most consistent performer.

Earlier, he had missed Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Manchester City in December but returned to feature in the final three matches of 2025. His goal against Sevilla in the final game of the year also saw him equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s club record of 59 goals in a single calendar year.

Now, Real Madrid face the challenge of maintaining momentum while waiting for their star forward’s return.
