Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho is finally finding his rhythm after a slow start to life at Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old Argentine starred in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Wolves, registering two assists — his first time doing so in a Premier League game — and playing a key role in the team’s fluid attack.
Garnacho, who left Manchester United under tense circumstances, needed time to adapt after a lengthy transfer process and fitness struggles. However, with two goals and two assists in his last four matches, he’s beginning to justify the £40m fee Chelsea paid in the summer.
Maresca’s Simple Message: “Work Hard”
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca credits Garnacho’s resurgence to one simple but powerful principle — effort.
“Work hard — this has been the main message since he joined us,” Maresca said. “He’s very talented, but to play for Chelsea, he needs to contribute both on and off the ball.”
The winger’s attitude has shifted significantly since joining the London club. Having arrived out of shape due to a period of inactivity at United, Garnacho has worked his way back to full fitness and into Maresca’s trusted starting lineup.
“He wasn’t training 100% before,” Maresca added. “Now, slowly, he’s improving. He knows that to play with us, he has to give everything.”
From Lincoln Frustration to Wolves Dominance
Earlier in the season, Garnacho was mocked by Lincoln City fans after an underwhelming Carabao Cup debut. But against Wolves, he showcased a more confident, mature performance — combining effectively with compatriot Enzo Fernández and staying influential throughout the full 90 minutes.
His sharp cross to Malo Gusto opened the scoring before he set up Pedro Neto to seal the win. It followed an important equaliser in the Champions League against Qarabag, showing Garnacho’s growing consistency.
Chelsea’s attack now often features Garnacho on the left flank, a sign of Maresca’s trust. Yet, the Argentine still has room to grow — especially in producing match-winning goals in major fixtures.
Estevao’s Impact and Chelsea’s Momentum
Chelsea currently sit second in the Premier League, having scored 21 goals in 11 games. Maresca admitted he feared a slow game before young Brazilian Estevao Willian injected energy from the bench.
“These games are tricky,” Maresca said. “But Estevao lifted the energy. The fans love that kind of player.”
With upcoming matches against Burnley, Barcelona, and Cardiff City, and Cole Palmer returning soon from injury, Chelsea’s momentum is building.
Maresca’s closing message echoed his mantra:
“We’re heading in the right direction. The players understand that hard work is the only way forward.”
