Mushfiqur Rahim ended his ODI career with a status on social media last night. Since then, the wicketkeeper-batsman has been showered with love from his former and current teammates.
After Mushfiqur’s retirement announcement, Taskin wrote on Facebook, ‘A chapter has ended! Mushi Bhai, it is difficult to imagine Bangladesh’s ODI cricket without you. Your passion, dedication, fighting spirit are all inspiring for us. It was a great honor for me to share the field with you and learn from you. Thanking Mushfiqur, Shariful wrote, “You are always the best to me. Thank you for giving Bangladesh cricket such a beautiful time. Best wishes for your future life.”
Like Mushfiqur, Towhid Hridoy grew up in Bogra. Referring to Mushfiqur as his idol, the batter wrote, ‘From hearing that you (Mushfiqur) were practicing at Bogra Stadium and standing by the stadium gate grill in the hope of seeing you as a child, to receiving the ODI international cap from you and sharing the same dressing room: – It’s nothing less than a fairy tale for me‼ Although I am speechless, I still wish you all the best for your retirement, my idol Mushfiqur Rahim. I will miss you more than anything and anyone.’
Mahmudullah Riyad has spent a lot of his career with Mushfiqur. He himself is on the verge of farewell.
