Top-order batter Tom Bruce has officially committed to playing for Scotland and is set to debut in the upcoming World Cup League 2 Series against Canada and Namibia. The 34-year-old, who represented New Zealand in 17 T20Is between 2017 and 2020, will add valuable experience to the Scottish side.
The four-match series is scheduled from August 29 to September 6 in King City near Toronto. Somerset bowler Josh Davey also returns to the squad, having last played for Scotland during the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Several key players — including Michael Jones, Brad Wheal, Scott Currie, and Michael English — will miss the series due to work, personal commitments, or county cricket duties.

Tom Bruce’s Career Journey and Scotland’s Current Standing
Tom Bruce, who previously had county cricket stints with Sussex and Lancashire, also represented the Scotland development team in 2016 before breaking into the New Zealand national side. His inclusion is expected to boost Scotland’s batting depth and experience.

Defending champions Scotland currently sit third in the eight-team table with 11 wins and seven losses from 20 games. Canada and Namibia hold fifth and sixth spots, respectively, with Canada just four points behind Scotland.
This will be Scotland’s first series since failing to advance in the European T20 World Cup qualifier.
