South Africa delivered a dominating performance in the decider to seal the series against West Indies, claiming a 166-run win via DLS method in Cave Hill. The foundation was laid by a brilliant 184-run opening partnership between Tazmin Brits and captain Laura Wolvaardt, followed by a lethal opening spell from Masabata Klaas, who claimed four wickets to dismantle the Windies’ chase.
“𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒅,” 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂’𝒔 𝒔𝒌𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝑾𝒐𝒍𝒗𝒂𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒕 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕-𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉.
West Indies’ decision to bowl first backfired as they failed to break the opening stand for over 26 overs. Brits and Wolvaardt went on the attack early, scoring at a rate above seven per over, and registered South Africa’s sixth-highest opening partnership in WODI history. Brits struck her half-century in 45 balls and later reached her century in 89 balls, featuring multiple sixes. She was eventually dismissed for a 91-ball 101 by Afy Fletcher, who also removed Wolvaardt (75) and Shangase in her final over, finishing with 3 for 35.
Despite a small collapse after the openers’ exit, Marizanne Kapp’s unbeaten 34 ensured South Africa pushed their total to 278 for 6 in 45.5 overs before rain ended the innings.
Klaas Rips Through West Indies Top Order
In response, West Indies collapsed under scoreboard pressure. Klaas removed three batters in her first two overs as the hosts slumped to 10 for 4. Their top four contributed just ten runs collectively. Mlaba added two wickets of her own, leaving West Indies struggling at 40 for 6.

Only Aaliyah Alleyne (32) and Jahzara Claxton (43) offered resistance with a 65-run stand, but it wasn’t enough. Klaas returned to break the partnership and wrap things up, bowling out the hosts for 121 in 27.5 overs. Stafanie Taylor was declared absent hurt and did not bat.
South Africa’s all-round effort earned them a convincing series win, underlining their rising dominance in women’s ODI cricket.
