Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed admitted that panic set in as Bangladesh dramatically fell apart in the first ODI against Sri Lanka. The team was cruising comfortably at 96 for 1 in 16 overs, chasing 245 runs. Taskin expected an easy win with several overs to spare.
However, a sharp piece of fielding by debutant Milan Rathnayake triggered a collapse. Shanto was run out, and soon after, Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan in the same over. From 100 for 1, Bangladesh slid to 105 for 8 in no time.
Taskin Calls It a Costly Mistake
Taskin described the collapse as “very costly,” especially since Bangladesh had built such a strong foundation early on. He praised Jaker Ali, who top-scored with 51 off 64 balls, and felt that with just a few more wickets in hand, they could have won.

He also dismissed the idea that the pitch was to blame, emphasizing it was more about mindset and failing to manage pressure.
