Smriti Mandhana Rises to 3rd in ICC Women’s T20I Rankings

India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has climbed to the third spot in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings for batters. On Tuesday, the ICC confirmed Mandhana’s rise by one place after her career-best performance in the opening match of the five-game T20I series against England.

Mandhana, already holding the No.1 position in ODIs, scored her maiden T20I century with a blistering 112 off 62 balls. Her innings, laced with 15 fours and 3 sixes, propelled India to a massive 97-run win in Nottingham—the biggest margin of defeat England have ever suffered in women’s T20Is.

Mandhana Reaches Career-High Rating Points

The left-hander now has a career-high 771 rating points, trailing only West Indies’ Hayley Matthews (774) and Australia’s Beth Mooney (794).

Other Indian Batters Also Make Gains

Among other Indian batters, Shafali Verma and Harleen Deol also moved up the rankings after solid contributions.

The ICC noted in its update:

“𝑭𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒊 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂 𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 13𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒐𝒇 20 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅, 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝑫𝒆𝒐𝒍 𝒓𝒆-𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒆𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍 86𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝒐𝒇 43.”

England and South Africa Players Rise in Rankings

Meanwhile, England’s Lauren Bell also saw gains in the bowling charts. She jumped two spots to be ranked fourth after her three-wicket haul in the same fixture.

The ICC release further added:

“𝑷𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝑰𝒒𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑻20𝑰 𝒃𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒆𝒓𝒔, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 44 𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒑 10 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒔.”

South Africa’s Miane Smit climbed to 76th after registering her maiden T20I half-century against West Indies, while teammate Sune Luus advanced nine places to 31st among all-rounders.
