Sanju Samson to Stay at Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2026

Amid speculations surrounding his future, it now appears that Sanju Samson will remain with Rajasthan Royals for the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Earlier reports had suggested that the star wicketkeeper-batter might part ways with the franchise. There were even strong rumors linking him to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), especially with MS Dhoni’s future still uncertain.

Some sources also claimed that Samson could join Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as their new captain. However, recent updates have put those rumors to rest. A source familiar with the matter confirmed that the Royals have no intention of letting go of Samson or any key players.

A Long-Standing Bond with RR

Sanju Samson, now 30, has been associated with Rajasthan Royals since 2013. Except for the 2016 and 2017 seasons when the team faced a suspension, he has consistently represented the franchise. Over the years, Samson has accumulated over 4000 runs, becoming one of the most reliable and iconic players in the RR setup.

A Tough Outing in IPL 2025

The 2025 IPL season was challenging for both Samson and Rajasthan Royals. The Kerala cricketer missed the initial three matches due to a finger injury, during which Riyan Parag stepped in as interim captain. Samson played only nine games throughout the season, managing to score 285 runs with a single fifty.

Unfortunately, RR had a disappointing run overall, finishing ninth in the league with just four victories.
