Salah apologizes to Liverpool teammates following a storm of controversy over his public criticism of the club and head coach Arne Slott. The Egyptian forward’s explosive comments during a period of poor form had sparked widespread discussion and criticism among fans and media alike.
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones confirmed that Salah apologized in the dressing room, assuring that the incident did not affect team morale.
“𝑴𝒐 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏; 𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅. 𝑯𝒆 𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅, ‘𝑰𝒇 𝑰 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒛𝒆.’ 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔,”
Benched and Frustrated, Salah Speaks Out
Salah vented his frustration after being benched for three consecutive matches following Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United. He expressed feeling disrespected despite his contributions, suggested tensions with Slott, and accused the club of breaking promises. Following these remarks, he was left out of the Champions League squad for the Inter Milan fixture.
Despite the controversy, Salah played a crucial role in Liverpool’s Premier League victory against Brighton before departing for the African Cup of Nations. Slott also praised his performance afterward, though Salah did not clarify whether he had personally apologized to the coach.
Jones further added,
“𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒐𝒇 𝑴𝒐, 𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒖𝒔. 𝑯𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆, 𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒖𝒍, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎. 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆. 𝑯𝒆’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒈𝒖𝒚 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒊𝒏.”
The apology has helped maintain dressing room harmony as Liverpool prepares for upcoming fixtures.
