Rishabh Pant

India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has hailed vice-captain Rishabh Pant for showcasing exceptional grit and resilience during the fourth Test against England in Manchester. Despite suffering a fractured leg in the first innings, Pant returned to bat and played a crucial role in India’s strong first-innings total.

Rishabh Pant Courage Leaves Lasting Impact

Pant was forced to retire hurt due to severe pain in the first innings, but returned to a thunderous ovation from the Old Trafford crowd on Day 2. Battling discomfort, he notched up a valiant half-century, guiding India to a respectable 358. Unfortunately, the injury has now ruled him out of the fifth Test at The Oval.

Gambhir, speaking after the match, applauded Pant’s heroics.

“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑹𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒃𝒉 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆 – 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏,” 𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒅. “𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒅𝒐. 𝑰 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔.”

“Generations Will Remember This,” Says Gambhir

The head coach was moved by Rishabh Pant’s dedication, stating that such acts deserve to be remembered and celebrated for a long time to come.

While Rishabh Pant absence is a blow for India, Gambhir remains optimistic about his return. He emphasized Pant’s invaluable role in the team, not just as a batter but as someone who brings crucial balance to the squad.
