Lionel Messi is yet to confirm whether he will participate in the next World Cup, but he has made it clear that if he does, it will mark the conclusion of his illustrious international career. In preparation for this potential farewell, Adidas has designed a special edition of the F50 boot, unveiled by Footy Headlines, the popular kit and boot news site.

Lightweight Design Honors Messi’s Legacy

The 37-year-old forward’s boot, named ‘El Ultimo Tango’, which translates to The Last Tango, is crafted from ultra-lightweight materials, enabling peak speed and agility on the pitch. It is set to be officially revealed before the World Cup kicks off in June.

“The boot is a tribute not just to Messi’s talent, but also to his unparalleled journey in world football,” a source from Footy Headlines said.

Predominantly white, the boots feature blue Adidas branding and lace details, while the studs’ lower sections incorporate gold accents. The gold represents the sun from the Argentine flag and symbolizes Messi’s global triumphs and status as a world champion. The combination of blue and white pays direct homage to Argentina, the nation Lionel has proudly represented across six World Cups.

Argentina Aim for Consecutive Glory

In his potential sixth and final World Cup, Messi’s Argentina have been drawn in a challenging group alongside Algeria, Jordan, and Austria. The team will attempt to achieve what only Brazil has done since 1962—win back-to-back World Cups.

Lionel also has personal milestones in his sights. He currently sits joint fourth on the all-time World Cup goal list with 13 strikes in 26 matches. “I want to give everything on the pitch and finish my World Cup journey on a high,” Messi said. He needs three more goals to surpass Miroslav Klose, while France’s Kylian Mbappe, with 12 goals, remains his closest rival in the scoring charts.
