Ayush Mhatre’s wicket was the game-changing moment in Saturday’s IPL 2025 encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. While chasing the target of 214 runs given by RCB, Ayush played a tremendous innings for CSK. He scored a half-century in just 25 balls and led the team to victory.
He shared a vital 114-run partnership for the third wicket with Ravindra Jadeja. At one point, it seemed that the two would easily take the team to the target, but Lungi Ngidi gave relief to RCB by dismissing Ayush Mhatre. The 17-year-old batsman missed out on a century, but he played a memorable innings for CSK.
His getting out proved to be the turning point of this match. If Ayush had stayed on the crease for a little longer, the result of the match would have been different.

Talking about the match, RCB batted first and scored a huge score of 213 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell, the squad’s openers, put the side ahead quickly with a 97-run partnership for the first wicket. Pathirana broke this partnership by dismissing Jacob.
Jacob Bethell played an innings of 55 runs in 33 balls. After this, Virat Kohli also got out after scoring 62 runs. He hit 5 fours and 5 sixes. In the end, Romario Shepherd played an important innings of 53 runs not out, scoring the fastest half-century for RCB, due to which RCB gave a big target to CSK. From CSK’s team, Mathisha Pathirana claimed a maximum of three wickets.
In response, Chennai Super Kings also started fast, but lost two wickets at a score of 58. However, Ayush Mhatre created history by scoring a half-century in just 25 balls. He did not stop here and got out after playing a brilliant innings of 94 runs. In his innings, Mhatre hit 9 fours and 5 sixes. Apart from this, Ravindra Jadeja played an unbeaten innings of 77 runs, but he too could not make the team win.
Dhoni’s team fell just two runs short of the target and could only score 211 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Lungi Ngidi bowled brilliantly for RCB and took the maximum of three wickets.
