Ravindra Jadeja

Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made headlines after India’s thrilling six-run win in the fifth and final Test at The Oval on August 4, which secured a 2–2 draw in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The victory, achieved under the leadership of Shubman Gill, marked a dramatic end to a hard-fought series on English soil.

As India took a jubilant victory lap, Jadeja was seen jokingly pointing at stunned English spectators, saying “Goron ke muh dekh” (Look at their faces). The light-hearted jibe quickly went viral on social media, capturing the celebratory spirit in the Indian camp.

“𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝑱𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒋𝒂 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅. 𝑰𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒊𝒏 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒇𝒖𝒏,” 𝒂 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒆 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅.

Jadeja’s All-Round Brilliance in the Series

Jadeja played a key role in India’s comeback, both with the bat and ball. He finished the series as India’s fourth-highest run-scorer, amassing 516 runs at an average of 86 across 10 innings. His contributions included a century and five half-centuries. With the ball, he claimed seven wickets, including a four-wicket haul.

India’s win in the fifth Test was also their first-ever victory in a series finale on English soil and marked the narrowest margin of victory by runs in the country’s Test history.

“𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑻𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒔𝒐𝒊𝒍 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒆’𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓,” 𝒂 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅.

What’s Next for Team India?

Following their overseas exploits, the Indian Test team will now enjoy a brief break before beginning their home season. In October 2025, India is scheduled to host the West Indies for two Tests in Ahmedabad and Delhi, followed by a two-Test series against South Africa in November in Kolkata and Guwahati.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Indian team is slated to tour Sri Lanka and New Zealand, each for two Tests. Additionally, Afghanistan will visit India for a standalone Test, although it will not count towards the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 standings.

The current WTC cycle for India will culminate with a high-stakes five-match home series against Australia, starting in January 2027.
