Ollie Price fifty leads Gloucestershire to dramatic win

Gloucestershire pulled off a thrilling seven-wicket win against Northamptonshire in the County Championship Division Two at the Seat Unique Stadium, thanks to a composed half-century from Ollie Price under pressure.

Price Anchors the Run Chase

Chasing 158 in just 27 overs, Gloucestershire reached the target with three overs left. Price top-scored with 54 off 58 balls, while Miles Hammond (38*) and Graeme van Buuren (20*) ensured victory.

“𝑶𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒚, 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆,” 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉.

Earlier, Jack Taylor’s 63 and van Buuren’s 44 had lifted Gloucestershire to 241 in their first innings, giving them a small lead. Northamptonshire, despite Saif Zaib’s 76, were bundled out for 192 in their second innings, thanks to Ajeet Singh Dale’s 4 for 46 and Ben Charlesworth’s 3 for 6.

Northants Falter Under Pressure

Only Justin Broad’s patient 49 kept Northamptonshire afloat, but once he fell lbw to Singh Dale, the visitors collapsed. Injuries to Luke Procter and a hamstring setback for Broad further hurt their chances.

Price and Charlesworth set the tone with a 52-run partnership, while Hammond’s late aggression sealed the result with an emphatic six down the ground.

“𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚,” 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝑫𝒂𝒍𝒆 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒊𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒅.

With this win, Gloucestershire collected 19 points and moved to third in the table, while Northamptonshire had to settle for just three.
