Mumbai Indians

The ongoing 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has been a rollercoaster ride for the Mumbai Indians. After a shaky start—winning just one of their first five matches—the five-time champions made a remarkable comeback, securing six consecutive wins. However, a recent defeat against Gujarat Titans by 3 wickets has complicated their playoff qualification scenario.

Currently sitting in fourth place on the IPL points table with 14 points, Mumbai Indians must win both of their remaining league matches to guarantee a spot in the playoffs.

Mumbai Indians Make Key Additions Ahead of Playoffs

In a strategic move to strengthen their squad, Mumbai Indians have added Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson, and Charith Asalanka as replacements for Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton, and Corbin Bosch, who will leave for national duties post the final league game.

The official IPL release confirmed the changes, stating:

“𝑴𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒊 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒔 (𝑴𝑰) 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝑱𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒚 𝑩𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒘, 𝑹𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝑮𝒍𝒆𝒆𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒂 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑱𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒔, 𝑹𝒚𝒂𝒏 𝑹𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒍𝒕𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒃𝒊𝒏 𝑩𝒐𝒔𝒄𝒉, 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒅𝒖𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒅𝒖𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑴𝑰’𝒔 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉… 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒗𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒐𝒇𝒇 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆, 𝒊𝒇 𝑴𝑰 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒔.”
