Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has officially decided not to play in the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He wants to skip the IPL and prepare for the World Test Championship final starting on June 11. The 35-year-old Starc took this decision when the tournament was halted for a week. The remaining matches of IPL 2025 will be played from May 17.
Now since Starc has left IPL in the middle of the season, a question in the minds of fans is whether he will get the full amount for this season or his salary will be reduced. So let us answer this question for you.
Mitchell Starc, who was bought by Delhi Capitals for a whopping Rs 11.75 crore in the mega auction ahead of the 2025 season, may now face a salary cut for withdrawing from the tournament without completing the entire season. According to cricket.com.au, Starc may have to give up one-third of his IPL 2025 salary if Delhi Capitals reach the final this season.
How much will Mitchell Starc lose if he leaves IPL in the middle of the season?
This means that the left-arm fast bowler will have to take a cut of Rs 3.92 crore from his salary, which will be a big loss in his earnings for the current season. If this happens, Starc will get only Rs 7.83 crore out of Rs 11.75 crore. Starc was an important part of the Delhi Capitals bowling unit and despite his economy rate being a bit expensive, he took wickets at crucial moments. He took 14 wickets in 11 matches, including a five-wicket haul.
Mitchell Starc’s presence with the Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals would have definitely been a huge advantage. The team desperately needs a win to make it to the top four of the tournament. Delhi Capitals are currently placed fifth in the IPL 2025 points table and remain in the playoff race. They still have three matches left, and they need to win at least two matches to make it to the playoffs. If they win all three matches, their place in the top four will be confirmed.
