Lionel Messi’s sister, Maria Sol Messi, has been seriously injured in a truck accident in Miami, suffering burns, spinal fractures, and a broken ankle. The 31-year-old businesswoman and fashion designer had to postpone her wedding, originally scheduled for January 3 in Santa Fe, Rosario, Argentine media outlet Clarin reported.
Accident Details and Current Condition
According to journalist Angel de Brito and Maria’s mother, Celia Cuccittini, Maria collided with a wall while driving her SUV. Despite the severity of her injuries, Maria is currently out of danger but will need extensive rehabilitation to recover.
Celia confirmed:

Messi is currently on vacation in Rosario with his wife while staying close to family amid the crisis.
Family and Personal Life
Maria, who has long avoided media attention, is a businesswoman and fashion designer, running her brand Bikinis Rio. She has been in a long-term relationship with Julian Tuli Areano, her fiancé for 12 years, who currently coaches Inter Miami’s U-19 team. The couple grew up together in southern Rosario and shares a close bond between their families.

Despite the tragic incident, the Messi family is hopeful for Maria’s full recovery, and her wedding will be rescheduled once she is fit.
