Real Madrid have firmly dismissed claims linking Jude Bellingham with a sensational move to Manchester United, calling the reports “laughable” amid widespread speculation in the Spanish media over the Christmas period.
The 22-year-old England midfielder, Jude Bellingham, joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in a €103m (£90m, $122m) transfer and has made 120 appearances, scoring 43 goals and providing 32 assists. Despite a brief adaptation period under coach Xabi Alonso, Bellingham is now considered a central figure in Real Madrid’s long-term plans.
Over the holiday period, reports suggested that Manchester United were preparing a record-breaking €200m (£174m, $235m) bid to sign Bellingham and make him the club’s marquee signing. Chelsea and Manchester City were also said to be monitoring the situation.
However, sources at Real Madrid and close to Bellingham have categorically rejected these claims.
“Jude Bellingham will not be leaving Real Madrid anytime soon,. “He is happy at the club, and the club are happy with him. Frankly, it is laughable for anyone to suggest he could be leaving in 2026.”
Jude Bellingham Settles at Real Madrid
Jude Bellingham has reportedly settled well in Madrid, where he was joined by close friend Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer, and is regarded as key to Real Madrid’s future by club president Florentino Pérez. His only current concern appears to be his role in Thomas Tuchel’s England plans, though he is expected to remain a core member of the national team.
Manchester United Midfield Plans Without Jude Bellingham
While Manchester United are keen to strengthen their midfield heading into 2026, Jude Bellingham is not on their agenda. The club is reportedly targeting Premier League stars Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, and Elliot Anderson for a summer overhaul, while Bruno Fernandes’ future remains uncertain.
In the short term, the Red Devils are also exploring departures, including Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte and Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee. Meanwhile, Italian reports suggest that a French midfielder could join Manchester United next summer, but he remains firmly committed to Real Madrid.
With Bellingham staying in Madrid, Manchester United’s midfield rebuild will focus on other targets as they plan for the 2026 transfer windows.
