Because of the tension and war-like situation between India and Pakistan, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been postponed indefinitely. The BCCI has said that it is not good for cricket to go on when the country is fighting a war. Meanwhile, the fans have only one question in their minds: when and where will the remaining matches of the IPL be played?
According to media reports, the Asia Cup, scheduled to be held this year, may be cancelled. The remaining matches of the IPL will be played during that window. No official statement has been made regarding this yet. Now it remains to be seen what decision the BCCI takes regarding this.
There are a total of 16 matches remaining in the 18th season of IPL 2025
So far, 58 matches have been played in IPL season 18, while 12 league stage matches remain. 10 teams are participating in the IPL, which started on 22 March. A total of 74 matches were to be played, including the final. Per the schedule, the final was to be played on 25 May at Eden Gardens.
When will the remaining part of the IPL be played? Will it be played or not? Will the remaining matches be held in certain stadiums or can they be shifted abroad? Many such questions remain. Currently, the league has been postponed indefinitely due to security concerns.
The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala on May 08 was cancelled after air strike warnings in neighbouring cities Jammu and Pathankot. Since then, there has been uncertainty over the future of the edition. A BCCI official said after the IPL was postponed that it does not look good to have cricket going on when there is a war going on in the country.
