Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh recently shared a deeply emotional account of the infamous “Slapgate” incident involving Sreesanth during his appearance on R Ashwin‘s YouTube show, Kutty Stories. The incident occurred back in 2008 during the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians in Mohali. Harbhajan, in a moment of heated emotions, slapped fellow cricketer and then-teammate Sreesanth, an act that sparked massive controversy and criticism.

Reflecting on the incident, Harbhajan expressed a strong desire to erase that moment from his life. He admitted that it was one of his biggest regrets and emphasized the weight it has carried for years.

Harbhajan also stressed how deeply the episode affected him on a personal level, especially considering the long-standing impact it had on Sreesanth and his family. Despite numerous public apologies, the guilt continues to linger.

Emotional Encounter with Sreesanth’s Daughter

The former off-spinner became visibly emotional while recalling a conversation with Sreesanth’s daughter. According to Harbhajan, when he warmly approached the young girl, she responded in a way that shook him to the core.

He further explained that this interaction made him question the image he had left in her mind. The guilt of being seen in such a negative light by a child left him devastated.

β€œI still apologize to her from the bottom of my heart,” Harbhajan said. β€œIf there’s anything I can do to change how she sees me, I will. I don’t want her to grow up believing I am a bad person. I hope she will think of me as someone who genuinely cares and is always there to support her.”

Harbhajan concluded by expressing his desire to finally close that painful chapter of his life and move forward with peace and understanding.
