Hampshire booked their spot in next month’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup final after overcoming Yorkshire in a rain-hit semi-final at Scarborough. Liam Dawson was the star of the show, smashing a career-best 142 off 116 balls to lead his side to a strong total. The visitors eventually defended a revised 41-over target of 254, sealing an 18-run win under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
They will now face Worcestershire in the final at Trent Bridge on September 20, after the Rapids defeated Somerset in the other semi-final.
Dawson and Currie Rescue Hampshire
Hampshire were in early trouble at 78 for 4, but Dawson’s commanding innings turned the tide. He partnered with young Ben Mayes for 89 runs before Scott Currie joined him for a blistering 136-run stand. Dawson’s knock included seven sixes, while Currie contributed his maiden List A fifty with 61* off 40 balls.

Imam Fights, But Yorkshire Collapse
In reply, Yorkshire opener Imam-ul-Haq stood tall with a composed 105, keeping the hosts in the contest. Alongside Will Luxton, he added 99 runs for the second wicket, guiding Yorkshire to 171 for 3 in the 31st over. But their hopes unraveled quickly as Currie dismissed two in one over, including a run-out of Imam, shifting the momentum back to Hampshire.

Despite Imam’s fourth ton of the season, Yorkshire fell to 235 for 8, continuing their poor record in List A finals with 19 losses in 22 appearances.
