The BBC will continue to show highlights of the men’s Champions League for another four seasons, keeping coverage free-to-air until the end of the 2030-31 campaign. The broadcaster has held highlights rights since the 2024-25 season as part of an initial three-year deal.
Alex Kay-Jelski, director of BBC Sport, said:
“The Champions League is the pinnacle of European club football and we’re delighted to provide fans with every goal and moment that matters.”
Highlights will air at 22:00 on Wednesdays across BBC TV, iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website and app. Clips will also be shared on social media, while a Match of the Day programme on BBC One will provide goals, reactions, and analysis each week.
BBC Football Coverage Expands
The BBC will complement Champions League highlights with live text coverage, reports, and analysis, alongside selected commentary on Radio 5 Live. The extended deal aligns with the broadcaster’s domestic football rights, including Premier League highlights and FA Cup coverage.
Kay-Jelski added:
“This deal continues our game-changing football portfolio and ensures audiences can enjoy the very best coverage across all BBC platforms.”
Meanwhile, US media company Paramount will broadcast Champions League matches in the UK from 2027 for four years. The BBC’s football lineup also includes the men’s and women’s World Cups, Euro 2028, the Women’s Super League, and the Women’s Champions League.
