Jude Bellingham stepped up once again for Real Madrid, scoring late to secure a 2-2 draw against Elche and push his side back to the top of La Liga. The England star smashed in Kylian Mbappe’s cut-back in the 87th minute, rescuing a point for Xabi Alonso’s team after a dramatic second half.
Elche twice took the lead, starting with Aleix Febas’ clever finish early in the second half. Madrid responded when Dean Huijsen turned in Bellingham’s header, but Alvaro Rodriguez restored Elche’s advantage with a crisp low strike.
“He’s becoming the man for big moments,” one commentator noted as Bellingham delivered again, scoring his third goal in four league matches.
Madrid dominated early chances through Mbappe, but Inaki Pena stood firm for the hosts. Elche also threatened, with Rafa Mir and Andre da Silva forcing saves from Thibaut Courtois.
Elche Hold Strong but Madrid Fight Back
The closing stages were tense, especially after Elche defender Victor Chust was sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card on Mbappe.
Still, Bellingham had the final say, continuing his excellent run before Madrid travel to Olympiacos in the Champions League.
“We showed character to stay in it,” a Madrid player said after the match, praising the late comeback.
