Bayern Beat Heidenheim, Move Closer to League Trophy

Bayern

Harry Kane scored his 24th league goal of the season as Bayern Munich easily beat Heidenheim 4-0 on Saturday, getting even closer to winning the Bundesliga title. Kane was joined on the scoresheet by Konrad Laimer, Kingsley Coman, and Joshua Kimmich. The win puts Bayern nine points ahead of second-place Bayer Leverkusen, who will play St Pauli on Sunday.

“This was a big step toward the title,” Kimmich told Sky Germany. “We’re now nine points in front, and Leverkusen still need to win. But we’re focused on ourselves — we still need to win two more games to become champions.”

After being knocked out of the Champions League by Inter Milan, Bayern Munich bounced back with a strong win. Harry Kane opened the scoring just 12 minutes in, turning and firing the ball into the net. This goal marked his 60th in 60 Bundesliga games since joining Bayern in summer 2023.

Soon after, Laimer scored from a clever pass by Serge Gnabry. Before halftime, Coman made it 3-0 by finishing after the keeper saved Guerreiro’s shot. In the second half, Kimmich added another goal from a Guerreiro assist, scoring just his second of the season in 46 games. Bayern are now close to winning their 34th league title and could secure it next week depending on other results.

Thriller in Berlin

Union Berlin drew 4-4 with Stuttgart in a wild game where all eight goals came in the first half – a Bundesliga first. Union led 2-0 thanks to goals from Ilic and Leite, but Stuttgart equalized quickly. Union went ahead again with a long-range shot by Querfeld, only for Stuttgart to score twice more. Ilic equalized just before halftime. No goals came in the second half, so the Bundesliga record of 12 goals in a game stands.

Union Berlin is now unbeaten in six games, many against top teams. Captain Christopher Trimmel said, “It was a crazy and tough match, but we’re happy with the result.”

Other Matches

RB Leipzig’s chances of finishing in the top four dropped after a 1-1 home draw with bottom club Holstein Kiel. Shuto Machino scored for Kiel, while Sesko equalized for Leipzig from a penalty. Leipzig keeper Gulacsi was injured in a collision and had to be taken off on a stretcher.

Mainz couldn’t take full advantage, drawing 2-2 with Wolfsburg. Arnold scored early for Wolfsburg, but Mainz came back with goals from Lee Jae-sung and Kohr. In the last minute, Vavro equalized for Wolfsburg, hurting Mainz’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time ever.

Freiburg improved their chances of playing in Europe next season with a 3-2 win over Hoffenheim, helped by two goals from Lucas Höler. Freiburg is now fifth, just behind Leipzig and ahead of Mainz.

Meanwhile, Werder Bremen beat Bochum 1-0 with a goal from Mitchell Weiser. The win helped Bremen’s European hopes and pushed Bochum deeper into relegation trouble. Bochum are now second from bottom and nine points away from safety with only four games left.
