Bangladesh Futsal saw their hopes of a podium finish fade after suffering a 4-1 loss to Nepal in their final match of the SAFF Women’s and Men’s Futsal Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.
The result leaves Bangladesh in fourth place with seven points from all their matches, while Nepal climbed to third with eight points and still has one game remaining.
“Winning this match would have kept our bronze hopes alive,” a team official said. “Unfortunately, the result went against us when it mattered most.”
Bangladesh Futsal Falls Behind Early in Decisive Clash
Nepal opened the scoring in the 14th minute, taking a narrow 1-0 lead into halftime. The momentum continued after the break when a second goal arrived in the 29th minute.
Bangladesh briefly fought back through Rahbar Khan, who found the net five minutes later to give his side renewed belief. However, Nepal sealed the contest with two late goals in the 34th and 37th minutes, putting the match beyond reach.
The defeat confirmed that Bangladesh could no longer reach 10 points, the total that would have kept them in contention for the bronze medal, bringing their tournament campaign to a disappointing close.
