Bangladesh 104 for 1 (Tanzid 54, Emon 23) beat Netherlands 103 (Dutt 30, Vikramjit 24, Nasum 3-21, Mustafizur 2-18, Taskin 2-22) by nine wickets*
Bangladesh tightened their grip on the three-match T20I series against the Netherlands, cruising to a 2-0 lead with another dominant performance in Sylhet. The visitors once again faltered with the bat, bowled out for 103 as seven players failed to reach double figures.
Nasum Ahmed, brought in for Rishad Hossain, was the star with the ball, claiming three wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman chipped in with two each. Tanzid Hasan then anchored the chase with a fluent unbeaten half-century, guiding Bangladesh to victory in just 13.1 overs — their third-fastest successful chase in T20Is without overs being reduced.
Nasum’s Early Strikes
Despite Max O’Dowd starting with a boundary, the Dutch struggled to build momentum. Nasum’s entry in the third over shifted the balance, as he struck twice in quick succession, dismissing O’Dowd and Teja Nidamanuru.
“Nasum’s double blow set the tone, forcing the Netherlands onto the back foot early,” noted a local commentator.
Vikramjit Singh provided brief resistance with stylish strokes but fell attempting a ramp shot off Taskin Ahmed in the powerplay.
Bangladesh Sloppy, But Bowlers Deliver
Bangladesh were far from flawless in the field, dropping chances and misfielding on several occasions. Towhid Hridoy missed a simple run-out, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib spilled a catch in the deep.
However, the bowlers ensured the lapses didn’t prove costly. Mustafizur Rahman struck to remove Scott Edwards, while Saif Hassan produced a brilliant direct hit to run out Noah Croes. From there, wickets fell regularly, with Aryan Dutt’s 30-run knock being the lone bright spot for the Netherlands.
“Dutt’s effort added respectability, but the Dutch batting unit never really found rhythm,” summed up an expert on the broadcast.
Tanzid Finishes in Style
Chasing a modest 104, Bangladesh openers took calculated risks. Parvez Hossain Emon survived an lbw scare and struck boundaries before falling in the powerplay. Tanzid, however, kept his composure and built his innings with clean hitting, bringing up his fifty off 39 balls.
Alongside Litton Das, he sealed the game comfortably, smashing a six and boundary to underline Bangladesh’s dominance.
With this victory, Bangladesh not only secured the series but also highlighted their depth in bowling and the promise of young batters like Tanzid Hasan.
