Asia Cup 2025: Jasprit Bumrah Confirms Availability for India

Jasprit Bumrah

India has received a significant boost ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 as pacer Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly confirmed his availability for the marquee T20 tournament. Scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, the event will see India aiming to defend their title. The selection committee is set to meet in Mumbai on August 19 to finalise the squad, and Bumrah has already informed them that he is fit and eager to participate.

Bumrah’s Recent Form and Fitness

Bumrah recently played in the five-match Test series against England, featuring in three matches. The management limited his workload to ensure he remained fit for upcoming assignments, preserving his effectiveness for India’s future white-ball commitments.

“𝑩𝒖𝒎𝒓𝒂𝒉 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒗𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑨𝒔𝒊𝒂 𝑪𝒖𝒑 𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒖𝒔𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌,” 𝒂 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚.

The 31-year-old fast bowler has not appeared in white-ball cricket since the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he was instrumental in India’s triumph. Bumrah finished the tournament as Player of the Tournament, claiming 15 wickets in eight matches at an astonishing average of 8.27, with an economy rate of just 4.18.

In England, he took 14 wickets in three Tests at an average of 26, although India could not win any of the matches he played. His decision to skip the fifth Test at The Oval drew some criticism from fans and experts, as India needed a win to level the series. In his absence, Mohammed Siraj stepped up, producing a match-winning spell to help India win by six runs.

India’s Asia Cup 2025 Schedule

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will kick off their Asia Cup campaign on September 10 against the UAE in Dubai. They will then face arch-rivals Pakistan on September 14 and conclude the group stage against Oman on September 19.

With Bumrah back in contention, India’s pace attack looks considerably stronger as the Men in Blue aim to defend their continental crown and build momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.
