T20

Afghanistan will lock horns with Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series followed by three ODIs in the United Arab Emirates this October. The series has been confirmed, though the official dates are yet to be announced.

This upcoming contest is essentially a continuation of the bilateral series that was postponed last year. Scheduled between the Asia Cup in September and Bangladesh’s series against West Indies in late October, this clash promises to be an exciting prelude to a busy cricketing calendar.

Matches to be Held in Dubai

According to reports, all matches will be staged at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The T20I series will take place first, with the ODIs to follow.

A senior official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) told Dhaka Post,

“𝒀𝒆𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒇𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏-𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒉 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝑫𝒖𝒃𝒂𝒊. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻20𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕, 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝑫𝑰𝒔.”

T20I Series Duration and Background

The series is expected to be wrapped up within 14 days, starting October 4 and finishing by October 17, 2025.

It is important to note that the two sides were originally set to play two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is in July 2024, but the plan was scrapped due to additional commitments.

An insider close to the development added,

“𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒄𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔, 𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒔 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔.”
