Abrar Ahmed

Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has stirred controversy with a surprising comment about former India opener Shikhar Dhawan. During a recent appearance on a Pakistani YouTube show, Abrar expressed his wish to face Dhawan in a boxing match, a statement that quickly spread like wildfire across social media platforms.

The remark came just weeks after India’s dominant win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai, where Rohit Sharma’s men lifted their ninth title after a five-wicket victory.

During the interview, the host asked Abrar which player he would like to face in a boxing ring—someone he feels angry toward. Without hesitation, the spinner replied,

“𝑴𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒉𝒕𝒂 𝒉𝒖 𝒌𝒊 𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒃𝒐𝒙𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒌𝒂𝒓𝒖 𝒂𝒖𝒓 𝒌𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒂 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒌𝒉𝒂𝒓 𝑫𝒉𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒐 𝒔𝒂𝒂𝒎𝒏𝒆” (“𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒐𝒙, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒌𝒉𝒂𝒓 𝑫𝒉𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒆.”)

Fans Slam Abrar for “Disrespectful” Comment

The video clip soon went viral, drawing mixed reactions from cricket fans. While some viewed it as harmless fun, many criticized Abrar for making an unnecessary remark about a respected Indian cricketer, especially amid the ongoing India-Pakistan cricket rivalry.

“𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒋𝒐𝒌𝒆, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑫𝒉𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆,” 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝑿 (𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝑻𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓).

The controversy also reignited discussions about Abrar’s on-field conduct during the Asia Cup, where he took six wickets in seven matches but failed to shine against India. His animated celebrations after dismissing Sanju Samson, seemingly directed toward India’s dugout, had already drawn attention.

Following India’s victory, players like Arshdeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana mocked Abrar’s gestures, with Arshdeep posting a photo captioned “No context.”
