Abhimanyu Easwaran has spoken candidly about being left out of India’s squad for the ongoing Test series against the West Indies. Despite consistent performances in domestic cricket, the Bengal batter continues to wait for his much-deserved international debut.
‘It Does Hurt, But I’m Grateful for My Support System’
Easwaran acknowledged that the repeated snubs have been emotionally challenging but credited his close circle for helping him remain positive and driven.
“𝒀𝒆𝒔, 𝒊𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒕, 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 — 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎, 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒔. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝑰’𝒎 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎: 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚, 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅,” 𝑬𝒂𝒔𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒛.
He added that he is looking forward to the upcoming Ranji Trophy season and is eager to continue improving his game.
‘I Focus on What I Can Control’
The 30-year-old right-hander emphasized the importance of working hard and staying mentally strong, especially after setbacks. He also revealed that he is working on new shots ahead of the new season.
“𝙄 𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡. 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧, 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧. 𝙔𝙚𝙨, 𝙞𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙗𝙖𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝙄’𝙢 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 — 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮’𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡,” 𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙.
Easwaran, who has represented Bengal since 2013, has scored 7,954 runs in 105 First-Class matches at an impressive average of 48.50. Although he has featured regularly for India A and the Rest of India sides, the talented opener still awaits his senior India debut.
