The Bangladesh women’s futsal team made history by winning the inaugural SAFF Women’s and Men’s Futsal Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand. In their final match, Bangladesh defeated the Maldives 14-2, finishing the tournament with the highest points among the seven participating countries.

Captain Sabina Khatun led from the front, scoring four goals in the final, bringing her total to 13 goals in six matches. Her leadership and consistent performances throughout the tournament have drawn praise from commentators and fans alike.

Bangladesh Dominant Performances Seal Historic Victory

Bangladesh started the final match aggressively, taking a 6-1 lead at halftime. They added eight more goals in the second half, marking the highest goal tally by any team in the competition. Over six matches, Bangladesh scored a total of 38 goals while conceding only nine. Goalkeeper Swapna Akhter Jhili was exceptional, keeping the defense solid throughout.

The team began their campaign with a win against India, followed by a 3-3 draw with Bhutan, and successive victories over Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nepal, setting the stage for their historic triumph.

The men’s team could not finish in the top three, but the women’s side showcased exceptional skill and dominance, cementing their place as SAFF champions in their debut futsal tournament.
