Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that his retirement from professional football is approaching, citing family as a key reason. The Al Nassr star shared his plans during an interview on the UK talk show Piers Morgan Uncensored.
At 40, Cristiano Ronaldo remains one of football’s most prolific scorers, with 952 goals for club and country combined. Last month, he revealed he aims to reach 1,000 career goals before retiring.

When asked about the timing of his retirement,Ronaldo said, “Soon. I think I will be prepared. It will be very, very difficult.”
Cristiano Ronaldo added, “I have been preparing my future since I was 25, 26, 27 years old, so I believe I can handle the pressure. Nothing compares to the adrenaline of scoring a goal. But everything has a beginning and an end. I’ll have more time for myself and my family, to raise my children.”

Cristiano Ronaldo Still Follows Manchester United
Despite leaving Manchester United three years ago, Ronaldo continues to follow the club closely. He reflected on their struggles, saying the team endured its worst top-flight finish since 1973-74, ending 15th last season.
“I’m sad because Manchester United is one of the most important clubs in the world, and it will always have a place in my heart,” Cristiano Ronaldo said. “
They currently lack structure. I hope this changes, because the club has incredible potential. It’s not just about the coach or players. Ruben Amorim is doing his best, but miracles are impossible.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement would mark the conclusion of a legendary career spanning over two decades, during which he became a global icon and one of the greatest goal scorers in football history.
