Nicholas Pooran Leads TKR to Historic CPL 2025 Title

Trinbago Knight Riders ended their five-year wait for a CPL trophy, with captain Nicholas Pooran crediting team belief over tactics for the historic win. It was Pooran’s first title in 12 CPL seasons.

Pooran on TKR’s Belief

After defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final, Pooran said:

“𝑵𝒂𝒉, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔. 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒇. 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒇. 𝑰’𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 15 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆’𝒔 𝒏𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒕.”

He dedicated the win to the people of Trinidad & Tobago, celebrating a strong week in national sport.

Veterans Step Up

Despite criticism for fielding an older squad, TKR’s senior players delivered. Akeal Hosein, 32, was Player of the Match, while 38-year-old Kieron Pollard claimed Player of the Tournament.

Pooran added:
