The West Indies Cricket Board has revealed a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan, to be held at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. Shai Hope will continue to lead the side as they aim to bounce back from their recent 1-2 T20I series loss to the visitors in Florida.

While Alzarri Joseph has been given a break from this series, all-rounder Romario Shepherd returns to the squad after missing the England tour due to his commitments with Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the rescheduled IPL playoffs. His contributions were instrumental in helping the franchise clinch its maiden IPL title.

Focus on the 2027 World Cup Qualification and Team Growth

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy emphasised the dual goals of the upcoming series — securing qualification points for the 2027 ODI World Cup and building a strong team culture for the long run.

“𝑷𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒂 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒖𝒔𝒉 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 2027 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝑪𝒖𝒑,” 𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒎𝒚 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚.

He added that the series against a higher-ranked team like Pakistan is a crucial opportunity to improve the Windies’ ODI ranking and build momentum.

“𝑴𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒄𝒐𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈-𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒎 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔,” 𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅.

The Caribbean side’s last ODI series ended in a 0-3 whitewash at the hands of England. With home advantage on their side, Hope and his men will look to deliver a strong performance in front of the home crowd and restore confidence within the team.
