The IPL 2025 final took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3, where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings to clinch their maiden IPL title. To celebrate this historic win after 18 long years, a victory parade was organized in Bengaluru on June 4. However, the joyous event turned tragic when a stampede broke out near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, resulting in 11 fatalities and over 50 injuries.

KSCA Letter Shows Government Approval Was Granted

Following the incident, an FIR was lodged by Cubbon Park Police Station against RCB management and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Now, a crucial development has emerged β€” a letter confirming that KSCA had formally sought permission from the Karnataka government for the victory parade.

The letter also highlights KSCA’s request for approval regarding the felicitation ceremony held at Vidhana Soudha. The excitement surrounding RCB’s first-ever IPL trophy had triggered massive public celebrations. While the official felicitation ceremony inside Vidhana Soudha concluded smoothly, the stampede occurred outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, turning the celebrations into tragedy.

FIR Filed Against KSCA Officials

In the aftermath of the stampede, KSCA faced severe criticism, and an FIR was registered against its top officials, including President Raghuram Bhat, Secretary A. Shankar, and Treasurer E.S. Jayaram.

However, KSCA, in its legal defense, emphasized that event management and crowd safety were not under their purview. The association submitted the letter as evidence to demonstrate that they merely acted as facilitators for government permissions.
