Zimbabwe Cricket Receives Major Fund of US$50,000 for Domestic Teams

Zimbabwe Cricket

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has secured a significant financial boost, announcing a US$50,000 sponsorship deal with CABS, a prominent financial institution in Zimbabwe. The sponsorship is aimed at strengthening the domestic cricket setup by directly supporting the country’s five first-class provincial teams—Eagles, Rhinos, Tuskers, Mountaineers, and Southern Rocks. These teams compete in the Logan Cup, the Pro50 Championship, and the national T20 league.

In a statement released by ZC, the funds will be disbursed through a direct-to-team model. This system is expected to improve transparency and allow teams to allocate resources toward crucial areas like player welfare, coaching infrastructure, and youth development.

Zimbabwe Cricket Gets Financial Boost from CABS

“We are grateful to CABS for coming on board as a valued partner in our domestic cricket journey,” said ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni. “For our provincial teams, it means greater stability and the ability to invest more consistently in key areas such as player welfare, coaching and talent development.”

Investment Aims to Strengthen Domestic Structure

CABS has been involved in Zimbabwe cricket since 2004 and has quietly supported local tournaments and talent-building efforts over the years. Their renewed commitment is seen as a positive step for the game’s long-term growth in the country.

The financial support comes during a promising year for Zimbabwe cricket. The national team has already played seven Test matches and recently hosted a T20I tri-series featuring South Africa and New Zealand. Zimbabwe is also set to host New Zealand for a two-Test series beginning July 30.
