The West Indies have unveiled their 14-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan (WI vs PAK), set to begin on July 31 in Florida, USA. The squad sees three key changes from their previous series, with Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, and Alzarri Joseph excluded. Their places have been taken by Alick Athanaze, Shamar Joseph, and Johnson Charles.
Hetmyer, King Injured; Joseph Rested
Despite showing strong form against Australia — each scoring over 100 runs in the five-match T20I series — both Hetmyer and King suffered side strains during the final match in Basseterre. Their injuries have ruled them out of the upcoming Pakistan clash.
Alzarri Joseph, on the other hand, has been rested as part of workload management ahead of the ODI series starting August 8. A team official stated, “We’re carefully managing player fitness with a packed schedule ahead. Alzarri needs some recovery time before the 50-over leg.”
WI vs PAK: Fresh Faces and Experience in the Mix
Selectors have blended youth and experience in the new squad. Shamar Joseph, who is likely to replace Alzarri in the pace attack, is being seen as a potential game-changer. Alick Athanaze is expected to slot into the middle order, filling the void left by Hetmyer.
“Shamar’s pace and aggression give us an edge. He’s someone who can make a difference,” a team insider noted.
Veteran opener Johnson Charles returns to partner skipper Shai Hope at the top. Keacy Carty, who impressed as a replacement during the Australia series, has retained his place. Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd will provide all-round depth, while Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie will handle spin duties.

Shai Hope (C), Jewel Andrew, Alick Athanaze, Jediah Blades, Keacy Carty, Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd
