What jersey number did the ‘new Messi’ get at City?

Messi

Claudio Echeverri had already signed a contract with Manchester City. The Argentine signed for the English club from River Plate in January 2024. However, he had been on loan at River Plate until now. Now the ‘new Messi’ has been officially recognized as a City player.

According to the contract, Echeverri could have joined City last January. However, it did not happen due to playing in the Under-20 South American Championship. Finally, his dream of playing for City is going to come true. Echeverri also received the jersey today. He will be seen in the number 30 jersey for the English club.

His contract with City runs until 2028. City signed Echeverri from River Plate for 12.5 million pounds in January 2024 on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Echeverri is proud to now be able to identify himself as a City player. “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be here. Finally I can call myself a Manchester City player. Football is my life,” he said.

“My dream is to play for one of the best teams in Europe. Today I am closer to my dream. Manchester City is one of the best teams in the world. They are not only winning trophies, they are also playing very well. They are an example for everyone. They have shown people how to play the best football. I am very happy,” he added.
