Mushfiqur

Mushfiqur Rahim is not doing well with the bat. He has scored 3 runs in the last three ODI matches. Mushfiqur has failed in the first two matches in important tournaments like the Champions Trophy. After a golden duck against India, he has finally scored 2 runs against New Zealand. Due to which this experienced cricketer has faced severe criticism.

Meanwhile, Mahmudullah Riyad is also being criticized. Despite not playing against India due to injury, he was unsuccessful against New Zealand. For this reason, these two experienced cricketers are being criticized from all sides. There is also talk on social media about the retirement of Mushfiqur-Mahmudullah.

The two former captains have left their thoughts on the cricketers themselves as to what the future of these two will be. Mohammad Ashraful and Khaled Masud Pilot also raised the issue of not having a good quality alternative.

Former captain Mohammad Ashraful recently told a media outlet, “It (retirement) is a personal matter for a player. Both are fit enough, enjoying the game. I don’t care what you think. The way Riyad played in the 2023 World Cup, if he had retired, people would have respected him. Again, there are two types of situations. We are thinking of giving opportunities to the youngsters. But they are also not doing well. That is why the selectors also want Mushfiqur-Riyad to play more. When those who will come in their place are established, they should step down. I think that is why.”

Another former captain, Khaled Masud Pilot, believes that the decision to retire should be left to the cricketers. Pilot told Dhaka Post, “My request is that there is no need to force retirement. The cricketers themselves will understand when they have to retire. You see, Mitchell did not play in the New Zealand team yesterday, and back-up Rachin Ravindra scored a century when he got the opportunity. Which we don’t really have.”
